Staffordshire Figure Association Conference held July 26-28, 2006 in Birmingham England

Elinor Penna elected President and Cape Cod chosen for 2007 Conference

The conference began Wednesday 26th July, with dinner in the Terrace Room at the Hilton at 7:00 p.m. where everyone had a fine time conversing and seeing some tempting Staffordshire Figures. During the dinner business meeting Elinor Penna was elected President and Cape Cod was chosen for the next Conference.

Thursday, the Antiques for Everyone Fair starts at 11:00 a.m. A shuttle bus went directly to the hall. A number of U.K. Staffordshire Dealers (who do not normally exhibit at the NEC Fair) were at the show with an amazing selection of Figures.

The SFA stand at the Fair had some wonderful bocage and tabletop figures on display (Not for sale unfortunately), and great "non-figure" items including posters for sale. Julie Brisbane managed the stand, and helped members with shipping etc. The Fair closed at 8:00 p.m., and dinner followed at the Hilton. .

Friday morning we went to Stoke on Trent by coach, and the Potteries Museum. The museum and has wonderful English Pottery & Porcelain on view. We then traveled to the Wedgwood Museum, and had a private viewing of a selection of the Balston Collection. .

Followed by lunch in the Museum's restaurant, and then a tour of the working Wedgwood Pottery. The final dinner at Nailcote Hall was a delightful end to a great conference.
